Tonight I saw a special screening of Darfur Now at UCLA. Prior to seeing this film, I was admittedly not as educated as I should be on the conflict in Sudan, so it was good to learn more about the conflict. This film gave an interesting perspective on the conflict, through the eyes of the victims themselves, but also through the eyes of some of the activists and humanitarians who are trying to affect change there. It was a unique confluence of viewpoints. The film, and the ensuing discussion with the filmmaker, one of the interviewees, and other panelists, certainly made me want to learn more about the conflict, so I'm sure I'll be picking up another book or two soon (after I finish the 10 or so books I'm already working on!).

I definitely recommend checking it out on November 2nd!
